On Saturday, 9 March 2024, Station Hill Cricket Club concluded its campaign by winning the 120th installment of the Pineapple Cricket Tournament.
Backed by their official sponsor, TrevPAR World, the team reached new heights over the course of the last few weeks, culminating in winning the tournament against Salem Cricket Club by 146 runs.
Station Hill’s players also cleaned up from an individual point of view, claiming 4 individual prizes, namely:
– Franklin Jacobs – Bowling Award
– Rudy Williams – Most Improved Batsman
– Sipho Saki – Highest Wicket Taker
– Rustin Baartman – Highest run aggregate
Based in Port Alfred, The Pineapple Cricket Tournament is currently South Africa’s oldest club cricket tournament, going strong since 1904, and showing no sign of slowing down.
Popularly known as Pineapple Week, the competition brings together the best of the local area, competing in 50 over matches by teams who regularly on weekends in the local leagues, but some are invitation teams gathered to compete in the tournament.
